An Improved H5 Topology of Single Phase Inverter with Reduced Leakage Current for Transformer less PV Systems

Abstract– Single phase transformer less inverter are currently used in grid connected Photo Voltaic system (PV). By using this type of inverter the size, weight, cost is reduced and also it increases the system efficiency. Leakage current is the main part to concentrate in the grid connected transformer less inverters. Recently, reduced Common Mode Voltage (CMV) has been proposed to reduce the leakage current in single phase transformer less photovoltaic systems. The Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) generally consists of four switches, for single phase PV system. In the proposed methodology, an improved H5 topology with Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) technique has been implemented, which reduces the leakage current as well as Common Mode Voltage variation and improve the overall performance of the system. In order to minimize the leakage current, the CMV is maintained constantly. The proposed topology was simulated by MATLAB/SIMULINK.
