COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF BIOFUEL WITH CONVENTIONAL DIESEL

Abstract– Biodiesel has gained more attention in recent years due to its eco-friendly, non-toxic, biodegradability when compared to conventional diesel fuel. Diesel production from algae is economical and easier. Algae gain the most attention to be used as biofuel producers. Normally 20-80% of oil content that can be converted into different types of fuel such as kerosene, oil and biodiesel. Species such as Spirogyra, Tribonema, Ulothrix, Euglena have good potential for biodiesel production. Aquatic unicellular green algae (Chlorophyceae) is used. Algae is cultivated and harvested. Biodiesel is produced by a process called transesterification. The production of biodiesel from microalgae is obtained. Hence, the biodiesel is tested to identify the properties present in it. Finally, comparing the properties of produced biodiesel with diesel.
